If I had to pick one vegan restaurant group I could eat at over and over again without getting bored, it would be Planta—hands down. I’ve visited several of their locations over time, including Florida and Los Angeles, and every single experience has been consistently impressive. Even though their Florida locations in Miami and Fort Lauderdale have sadly closed, they still have beautiful restaurants open in places like New York City, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Toronto, Bethesda, Yorkville, and Los Angeles—so thankfully there are still plenty of opportunities to go back.
What I love most about Planta is that it doesn’t feel like “vegan food trying to imitate something else.” It just feels like elevated, intentional cuisine that happens to be plant-based. The flavors are bold, the presentation is beautiful, and the menu always makes it hard to choose just a few things.
There is one dish I always have to order no matter which location I’m at: the avocado pressed sushi. It’s honestly the standout item for me every single time. The texture is so smooth and rich, and the combination of flavors melts together in a way that feels indulgent and comforting at the same time. It’s the kind of dish that makes you pause mid-bite because it’s just that good.
Another item I’ve tried is the wafu crunch salad. It’s fresh and decent, but not something I personally feel I need to reorder—it’s more of a side than a “must-have” compared to their stronger dishes.
I’ve also had their fried dumplings, which were crispy and satisfying, and at the Florida locations I remember the fried rice being really flavorful and comforting, along with their vegan wings that hit that perfect savory-crispy balance. In Miami, I also tried their Alfredo-style pasta, which was creamy, rich, and one of those dishes you think about later and wish you had taken more photos of (I definitely regret not documenting the menu better during that trip).
One of the most memorable visits was their Miami location, which had such a fun atmosphere overall—great cocktails, vibrant energy, and food that matched the vibe perfectly. Even now, I still think about how consistently good everything was across the board.
Planta is one of those rare restaurant groups where I genuinely feel excited to go back every time I see one in a new city. Whether it’s a full dinner experience or just a casual stop, it always feels elevated without being overly complicated.
Even though I know I should probably branch out and try more vegan restaurants when traveling, Planta is always the place I end up comparing everything else to. If you’re in any of the cities where they still have locations, it’s absolutely worth a visit—especially if you love plant-based food that feels creative, refined, and satisfying all at once.
